CNC Master CAM

Program Description:

Machinists set up and operate a variety of machine tools to cut or grind metal, plastic, or other materials to make or modify parts and products with precise dimensions.

Learn which types of CNC controls are being used and in what industries. Upon completion of the program, students will have an understanding of the language of mechanical engineering drawings with an emphasis on the proper use of CSA drafting standards and practices.

Job Skills:

Able to calculate orthographic and Isometric projections

Knowledge in dimension, tolerance, fits and limits, auxiliary views, sectioning, working drawings, general assemblies, standard components, welding symbols and GD &T

Capable of identifying and recognizing hazards in the workplace and be able to remove or control them

Proficiency in both linear & circular interpolation and canned cycles

Skilled at editing in wire frame and surface modeling

Competent with operating mechanical drafting tools in AutoCAD

Accomplished at creating drawings for CNC programming

Proven ability in 3D tool and Stock set up Practiced at calculating feeds and speeds

Adept at editing programs produced in MasterCam

  • Introduction to CNC/MasterCam

    Learn the history of CNC/MasterCam and its current application in industry.

  • Mechanical Blueprint Reading

    This modulefocuses on mechanical engineering drawings and the proper use of CSA drafting standards and practices.

  • Occupational Health & Safety

    Students will learn Occupational Health and Safety legislation in Ontario and take an in- depth look at the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMJS).

  • Mechanical Drafting (AutoCAD) Discover the fundamental concepts and features o fAutoCAD 2D. (This is a hands-on

  • CNC Mill & Lathe Programming Designed to give students the necessary skills to properly plan and write a numerical control program, this module will give each student an opportunity to program.

  • MasterCam 2D Geometry Creation Learn the techniques and methods used to create perfect Geometry for accurate CNC Programming.

  • MasterCam 2D/3D Programming

    This course instructs students on how to create programsfor CNC lathe machining. Additionally, students will learn how to write manual programs (NC data) for both a CNC Lathe Machine and a CNC turning Machine Center.

  • MasterCam 2D/3D Surface Modeling This comprehensive course instructs the student on the creation of 2D/3D Swface Modeling and wire frame construction in MasterCam to create different Models.for CNC Machining.
